Are you ready to lose weight? Reaching your goal weight will not only make you look and feel great but losing those extra pounds will help you be more confident and healthier.

People lose weight for a variety of reasons, including improving your appearance, boosting your mood and enhancing your self esteem. Making a positive impact on your health is the number one reason why most people decide to lose weight. Fifty percent of people who were overweight or obese said that improving their health was their main motivation for weight loss.

Heart Health:

Lowering your body mass index, or BMI can directly reduce your risk for coronary heart disease. Coronary heart disease, which occurs when plaque builds up in your blood vessels, increases your risk for arterial blockages, heart attacks and stroke.

Diabetes:
If you are overweight, your risk of developing type 2 diabetes is 20 times greater than it would be if you maintained a healthy body weight.. In fact, 90 percent of people who have type 2 diabetes are obese or overweight. It's not clear exactly why, but carrying extra weight seems to interfere with your body's ability to effectively deal with sugar in the blood. Losing weight can reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Cancer:
Being overweight may make you more likely to die from certain types of cancer, including colon cancer, breast cancer, esophageal cancer, pancreatic cancer and stomach cancer. Studies suggest that extra weight and obesity was responsible for 14 percent of male cancer fatalities and 20 percent of female cancer fatalities in adults age 50 and older. Losing weight may also make you more likely to get the tests that can diagnose cancer when it is in it's early stage.
